Speakers:
Candidates:
Nathan Smith, Candidate for Tarrant County District Clerk
• Former Army officer, former staff member for Alyssa Simmons, currently works for the Help
Center for LGBTQ+ Health in Arlington, TX
• Why he’s running: He is interested in making changes to the problems within the Tarrant
County Jail. While on Alyssa’s staff he saw how hard she worked to make changes in the
criminal justice system. Tom Wilder, current District Clerk, was supposed to be there to
support the County Commissioners but Tom Wilder was accepting money from Bail
Bondsmen to fund his campaign. So, he wasn’t interested in correcting the issues that exist
in the Tarrant County Jail. Nathan hopes to change that.

• The job duties of the District Clerk include, handling judicial paperwork for county, setting
schedules for judges, filing paperwork.
