Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by the club president, Sally Craig, at 7:00 PM, with 10 members and guests present. We met at Rosa’s Cafe in Lake Worth.


Minutes: The Secretary was not present at the meeting, Michael Stackhouse, presented the minutes from the November 2023 general meeting. The minutes were approved as presented


Financial Report: The Treasurer was not present at the meeting, Sally Craig presented the financial report, with a cash balance of $1473.34. We have no paying members at this time. The treasurer’s report was approved as presented.


President’s Report:  

Sally Craig discussed the upcoming Golf Tournament that has been scheduled for Saturday April 20th. The club will be responsible for nine hole-sponsorships at $100 each. The TCDP is joining the club for the tournament and they will be responsible for the other nine holes.  They are looking to have different tiers of sponsorship and the club can also use that model if we decide to adopt it. 

We need to have volunteers to find items to be included in the silent auction to be held at the tournament.  Becky Maples, Lana Yarber and Grethen Lockhart said they would like to help.


Speakers: There were no speakers at the meeting.


Announcements: 

One of the TCDP annual fundraisers, the Mardi Gras Ball will be held on Saturday, February 3rd.

Tickets are on sale thru the party now.


Upcoming Activities:

The early voting for the Democratic Primary will start on Tuesday February 20th and will continue thru Friday March 1st. Tuesday March 5th is Election Day for the primary.

President’s Report:  

Michael Stackhouse discussed who had or was planning to file as candidates for the upcoming primary election that will be held in March 2024.

Mimi Coffee has filed for District 99 state representative.

Trey Hunt is running for US Congressional District 12, not sure who else is filling at this time.

Ramon Romero has filed for District 90 state representative.

Nicole Collier has filed for District 95 state representative. 

Salman Bhojani has filed for District 92 state representative.

He also let us know that both Ramon and Nicole had made donations to the Tarrant County Democratic Party.


The Election for new club officers was held.

New club officers were elected by anonymous vote for 2024:

President,- Key Executive Sally Craig

Vice President Ben Maples

Secretary Karen Horgan

Treasurer, Key Executive Richard Layne


A meeting was scheduled at Michael’s house for instructions on operating the club.

Michael is scheduling a meeting at the bank at Wells Fargo to replace Michael W. Stackhouse as President/Key Executive and Haley Stackhouse as Treasurer/Key Executive by Sally M.Craig as President/Key Executive and Richard T. Layne as Treasurer/Key Executive.


Speakers: There were no speakers at the meeting.


Announcements: 

Anyone can go by the party office during the week and sign candidates petitions so they can qualify to file for office and have the filing fees waived.


Upcoming Activities:

We will not have a club meeting in December but will be attending a Christmas Party at Mimi Coffey’s. The date and time had not been decided at this time.

Financial Report: The Treasurer, Haley Stackhouse presented the financial report, with a cash balance of $1600.73. The treasurer’s report was approved as presented.


President’s Report:  

Michael Stackhouse discussed the upcoming Saginaw Train and Grain Festival and that we need volunteers to work on that day registering voters and providing the treasure hunt for the kids. He will be emailing a map of the site and where our booth will be set up to the volunteers.

He reminded everyone about the State House District 99 Meetup at Tommy’s Burger by Ridgmar Mall.

He put together a handout for those present about the upcoming election for State Congressional Amendments. He directed everyone to review the League of Women Voters guide for the propositions.

He also mentioned the School Bonds for Saginaw-Eagle Mountain ISD and Azle ISD.

He reminded us about the club’s election for new officers will be held at the November meeting and anyone interested in serving should be sure to run.

He also informed us that we will not have a club meeting in December but will be attending a Christmas Party at Mimi Coffey’s.

Rodney Lee

Rodney explained the Bonds for the Saginaw-Eagle Mountain ISD and how important for those in the district to get out and support it. He has signs for anyone who would like to get one.

He also mentioned that the Tarrant County Democratic Party would like to partner with us and Rodney for the Golf Tournament.


Announcements: 

Early Voting for the upcoming election starts Monday October 23rd thru Friday November 3rd; Election Day is Tuesday November 7th.
