Northwest Tarrant Progressives Minutes: General Meeting, Wednesday, September 18, 2024

Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by the club president, Sally Craig, at
7:00PM, with 16 members and guests present. The meeting was held at Arizola’s
Mexican Restaurant.
Minutes: The minutes of the August 2024 meeting were emailed to members and
approved.
Financial Report: The financial report, showing a cash balance of $1,561.11 was
presented by Richard Layne and was approved as read.
Richard also presented a financial report from the Drive to the Polls Golf Tournament.
The club donated $350 to Mimi Coffey’s campaign. After expenses of $421.50, the profit
was $638.19.
Speakers:
Mark Greene, National Delegate for Congressional District 12, gave a report about the
Democratic National Convention. He said it was very organized, logistics were handled
well, and overall, it was an exciting and inspiring. Although there were protestors
outside, they did not have a negative effect on the convention.
Alejandro Arango, from Collin Allred’s campaign spoke about how the campaign is
going. Allred is ahead by 1 point in the polls and has been out fundraising Cruz. They
are building a coalition with many organizations statewide, such as Powered X People.
They need people to volunteer to knock doors and phone bank. They have a phone
bank set up at the Tarrant County Democratic Party office, anyone can join.
www.TXoffense.com has many opportunities for volunteering, as does TCDP.
Upcoming Events:
Saginaw Train and Grain Festival – October 5 10 am – 4 pm
We will be partnering with Mimi Coffey and helping at her booth. We do need volunteers
throughout the day and for set-up and take-down.

Membership Dues can be paid directly to Richard, or paid with Zelle, or on ActBlue.
New Member Promotion – Prorated memberships are being offered to anyone joining the rest
of this year.
