Northwest Tarrant Progressives Minutes: General Meeting, Wednesday, January 15, 2020

Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by the president, Michael Stackhouse, at 7:00 PM. The secretary, treasurer, membership chair, and marketing chair were also present. Total attendance was 32.

Minutes: The Secretary, Lee Traweek, presented the minutes from the October 2019 general meeting, and discussed the November debate watch party and December potluck that superseded those meetings. The minutes were approved as distributed.

Financial Report: The treasurer, Haley Stackhouse, presented the financial report, with a cash balance of $1,067.06. The club completed 2019 with 45 members. Membership fees for 2020 are due, at $25 per individual or $40 per couple. The treasurer’s report was approved as distributed.

Candidate Speaker: Shadi Zitoon, Democrat for Texas State Senate District 12, currently held by Jane Nelson, spoke to the club regarding his candidacy.

Executive Board Elections: Nominations and elections of the 2020 executive board were held. The 2020 board members and committee chairs will be:

President - Greg Noone

Vice-president - Michael Stackhouse

Secretary - Lee Traweek

Treasurer - Haley Stackhouse

Membership - Michael Miller

Marketing - Christie Noone

Texas Senate District 12 Convention: The SD12 Convention Chair, Cherie Traweek, discussed the upcoming convention and the need for participation. The Democratic Party needs Delegates to participate in the SD12 and Texas State Conventions. It is easy to sign up and become an active participant at the convention. Upcoming Events: Tarrant County Democratic Party Mardi Gras Ball, Friday, February 21, 2020, 6:00PM to 10:00PM, at the Stagecoach Ballroom, 2516 E. Belknap St., Fort Worth, TX 76111.
