Northwest Tarrant Progressives Minutes: General Meeting, Wednesday, August 16, 2023

Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by the club president, Michael Stackhouse, at 7:00 PM, with 14 members and guests present. We met at Rosa’s Cafe in Lake Worth.


Minutes: The Secretary, Sally Craig, presented the minutes from the July 2023 general meeting. The minutes were approved as presented


Financial Report: The Treasurer, Haley Stackhouse presented the financial report, with a cash balance of $1475.53. The treasurer’s report was approved as presented.


President’s Report:  

Michael Stackhouse informed the group they should expect various candidates attending our meetings this fall to gather signatures on petitions to waive the filling fees for their campaigns.

He also reminded the group about the upcoming Inaugural Dr. Opal Lee Empowerment Luncheon. This is going to be an annual fundraiser for the Tarrant County Democratic Party.

He discussed the upcoming Saginaw Train and Grain Festival and that we would be teaming up with Rodney Lee. We would have turkey legs and will also be registering voters.

He discussed the upcoming County and State Conventions and that he would have more information to share as we get closer to the events.

Finally, he announced that he will not be available to be our president going forward in the new year because he and his family are moving to Colorado.  The election for new officers will be held at the November meeting and anyone interested in serving should be sure to run.

Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, September 20th. We will be planning our participation in the Saginaw Train & Grain.


Upcoming Activities:

Saturday, August 26th there will be a SDEC meeting at UNTHSC.
