Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by the club president, Michael Stackhouse, at 7:10 PM, with 8 members and guests present. We met at Panera Bread in Lake Worth.


Minutes: The Secretary, Sally Craig, presented the minutes from the May 2023 general meeting. The minutes were approved as presented


Financial Report: The Treasurer, Haley Stackhouse presented the financial report, with a cash balance of $998.23. The treasurer’s report was approved as presented.


President’s Report:  Michael Stackhouse reported the results runoff for the TCC board member for District 4. He also brought a spreadsheet to sign up as a volunteer for the golf tournament. 


Speakers: 

Rodney Lee

Rodney spoke about the details for the upcoming Annual Justice for All Golf Tournament at Cross Timbers Golf Course in Azle on June 24th. It will start at 8:00 AM with a shotgun start.

Price for Players is $85 each, Hole Sponsorship is $75 per hole.

He is still looking for volunteers to help, players and Hole Sponsors.

We all helped prepare the goody bags for the golf tournament during the meeting.

  

Announcements: 

The current Tarrant County Democratic Party chairperson, Allison Campano is resigning and there will be an emergency CEC meeting on July 8th on ZOOM to elect a new party chair.

All are encouraged to attend but voting is limited to precinct chairs.


Upcoming Activities:

Volunteering for Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 24th. 

CEC meeting on July 8th to election new party chair.

Candidate for Tarrant Regional Water District Board of Directors

CB is presently on the Board having been appointed to complete Jim Lane’s term after his death in November. He spoke about what his goals are and is presently happening on the board. The main focus is on a 50-year plan for our water supply, flood control and recreation on the lakes that are part of the district from Lake Bridgeport to Richland Chambers.

Bill Greenhill

Candidate for Tarrant County College Board of Trustees

Bill is the incumbent in this race, he has been on the board since 2011.

He spoke about his commitment to the college and what he wants to do in the future to move

TCC forward and support the students and the community.

Dean Peyton

Dean has organized a day for voter registration on May 17 th at Azle High School. He was

looking for volunteers to join him between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM with time off for

lunch at noon.

Jennifer Castillo

Candidate for Fort Worth Mayor

Jennifer is an Air Force Veteran and is now a business owner and single mother who wants to

become mayor of Fort Worth. She supports small business owners and non-profits and wants to

help them grow in Fort Worth.

Karroll Parker

Karroll announced that the 2024 democratic convention will be held in Chicago, and the state

convention will be in El Paso. He is asking everyone to come to the state convention as

delegates to represent Tarrant County. They are working on getting discounts for transportation and lodging in El Paso. The TCDP is also working to get the 2026 state convention to be held in Fort Worth.


Announcements:

Michael reminded everyone about the upcoming local elections in May. Also, the Golf

Tournament at Cross Timbers will be held in June.

Alyson Kennedy

Candidate for Fort Worth Mayor

Alyson spoke about her past race for mayor in Dallas and her views about the division of the very wealthy and the workers. She also spoke about working as a coal miner and starting a union for coal miners.

Chad Moore

Candidate for Tarrant Regional Water District Board of Directors

Chad is a locomotive engineer at BNSF Railway. This is his first time to run for elected office.

He is willing to learn and devote the time needed to serve as a board member.

Joe Aston

Candidate for Tarrant Regional Water District Board of Directors

Joe is presently the mayor of River Oaks and the city manager for Pantego.

He has worked in municipal government for over 16 years and will be retiring as the mayor for the city of River Oaks at the end of this term. 

He explained what is required to serve on the board and what he wants to do with his service.

Kenneth Bowens, Jr

Candidate for Fort Worth Mayor

Kenneth has been attending city council meetings since the 7th grade. He would like to see more transparency. He wants to improve the relations between the people and the police, public transportation and the roads in all neighborhoods. He wants to end disparity between east and west side neighborhoods.


Announcements: 

Michael will send out invitations to all candidates running in our local school board elections to speak to our club before the election in May. Also, the Golf Tournament at Cross Timbers will be held in June.


Upcoming Activities:

The next CEC meeting will be on April 11 at 7:00. It will be a Zoom meeting.

The TCDP is looking for Volunteers to come to the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays to assist with phone calls and Thank you notes.
