The meeting was called to order by the president, Michael Stackhouse. The vice president, treasurer, membership chair, and marketing chair were also present. Total attendance was 24.


Vice President, Evan Hausenfluke, presented the minutes from the June, 17th general meeting, and those minutes were approved as distributed.


The treasurer, Haley Stackhouse, reported a cash balance of $1308.30, and paid memberships at 41 for 2019. We are 9 members away from meeting our 2019 goal of 50 members! The treasurer’s report was accepted as distributed.


Michael Stackhouse spoke about the upcoming Executive Board elections in November of 2019 and the importance of it being a peaceful, and seamless transference of power. The executive board is looking for members to volunteer and help lead the club in 2020. The current Executive Board is excited to work with the executive board candidates, to bring them up to speed as quickly as we can.


All Executive Board Chairs can be challenged by any member in good standing that has been a member for at least 9 months prior to their nomination. Listed below is the Executive Chairs that have reached their term limits and cannot seek re-election, per the NWTP By-Laws:

Michael recognized the evening’s speaker, Tim Brandenburg, who is running as a Democratic candidate for the 96th District Court Judge. Mr. Brandenburg, spoke with us about his vision for the future of the county and how he will maintain his courtroom if elected. Michael discussed the CEC meeting. Acknowledging the approval of the Standing Committee Chairs in the party. The Standing Committee is seeking volunteers to help them achieve their goals, inquire with the county party if interested.


Michael also discussed the redistricting map that affect the house districts 97 and 99. Among the precincts moved were 4073, 4138, 4634 (partial), 1674 and 1684. One precinct was removed: 4687. He also brought up the precinct chair map in Tarrant county and how the club is still looking to fill many empty precinct chairs.


Michael acknowledged the membership to give feedback on upcoming events. The decision was made to not have a NWTP watch party for the first debate in June. The NWTP have been invited to attend the Sting Fling in Azle, Membership approved of Indoor Booth. Member Christie Noone brought up the Train and Grain Festival in Saginaw Texas. We will look into more information on the festival and get back with the membership.

Michael recognized the evening’s speaker, Al Woolum, who is running as a Democratic candidate for the U. S. House of Representatives in Texas District 12. Mr. Woolum served in the United States Navy, was one of the first students to participate in the Women's Studies program at San Diego State University, and fully supports a woman’s right to make her own reproductive health decisions. Michael discussed the Tarrant County Democratic Party’s structure and key leaders - Chair Deborah Peoples, Executive Director Marco Rosas, and Precinct Leadership Chair Beth Kelly. He also described the party’s standing committees, and how NWTP integrates with the party. A key goal of the TCDP and NWTP is to fill vacant precinct chair positions, and Beth Kelly is the focal point for that effort. The County Executive Committee will be meeting at 10:00AM on June 1, in the Jefferson Unitarian Universalist Church, 1959 Sandy Lane, Fort Worth, Texas 76112. This is a great opportunity to learn and get involved. Information on CEC activities will be posted on the club website at www.nwtarrantprogressives.com.
